There’s something special about lighting a candle at home.
Whether it’s part of your evening routine, a quiet moment with a cup of tea, or simply a way to make your home feel warm and welcoming, candles have a lovely way of creating atmosphere.
But just like many things we enjoy in our homes, candles need a little care to keep them looking and smelling beautiful.
Do candles go off?
The short answer is yes, candles can change over time.
Our candles are made using soy wax, a natural vegetable-based wax chosen for its beautiful, clean burn and sustainable qualities.
Because soy wax is a natural product, it can naturally change over time. Fragrance can slowly fade, especially if a candle is stored somewhere warm, bright or exposed to sunlight.
To enjoy your candle at its best, we recommend using it within around 12–18 months of purchase.
How should I store my candle?
To help your candle stay fresh and fragrant for longer, store it somewhere:
✨ Cool
✨ Dark
✨ Dry
Keeping your candle away from direct sunlight and heat sources will help protect the fragrance and appearance of the wax.
Over time, heat can cause the fragrance oils to slowly release from the wax before you have had a chance to enjoy them.
How do I get the best burn from my candle?
A little candle care can make a big difference.
When lighting your candle:
- Allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the container on the first burn
- Do not burn your candle for longer than 4 hours at a time
- Keep the wick trimmed before each use
- Always follow the safety instructions on your candle label
These simple steps will help your candle burn beautifully and evenly.
When is it time to say goodbye?
As much as we love our candles, there comes a time when they have been enjoyed to the very end.
We recommend not burning your candle once only around 1cm of wax remains. Continuing to burn a candle beyond this point can increase the risk of the container becoming too hot.
Always remember to follow the safety guidance provided with your candle.
Creating little moments at home
I love that candles become part of our memories.
The scent you light during a cosy evening, the candle burning when friends visit, or the fragrance that reminds you of a certain season can all become little moments we remember.
Looking after your candle means you get to enjoy those moments for longer.
Thank you for choosing a handmade candle created with care.
