Have you ever caught the scent of something familiar and suddenly found yourself transported back to another moment in time?
Maybe it’s the smell of your mum’s perfume, freshly cut grass on a summer’s day, baking in the kitchen, or even the scent of an old favourite place.
Fragrance has a wonderful way of connecting us to memories.
For me, some of my strongest memories come from my teenage years — a time filled with music, films, friendships and discovering who I was. Certain scents from those years can instantly bring back feelings and moments that I haven’t thought about in years.
Why do scents trigger memories?
Our sense of smell is closely connected to the parts of the brain involved with emotions and memories. This is why a familiar scent can bring back such a strong feeling, sometimes before we even realise what we are remembering.
Unlike many other senses, fragrance can feel incredibly personal. A scent can remind us of a person, a place, a season or a special moment in our lives.
That’s one of the reasons I love creating home fragrance. A candle or wax melt isn’t just about making your home smell beautiful — it can become part of your everyday memories.
Scents that take us back
Everyone has those little scents that instantly bring back memories.

It’s amazing how something so simple can bring back a whole moment in time.
Creating memories at home
For me, this is what makes home fragrance so special.
A scent can become part of your routines and your memories — the fragrance you light on quiet evenings, the candle you burn when friends visit, or the wax melt that reminds you of a favourite season.
Years from now, that same scent might take you straight back to that moment.
